activities come under Hong Kong based, publicly quoted Swire Pacific Limited, or
are held by parent company, John Swire & Sons Limited, in the UK, North
America, Australia, Papua New Guinea, East and West Africa, and across Southeast
Asia. The Group employs over 136,000 people worldwide. Turnover in 2017 reached
US$ 29.3 billion.
Since the establishment of its first China office in Shanghai in 1866,
Swire’s business operation history in China exceeds one and a half centuries.
The Group is highly committed to developing its business in both Hong Kong and
Mainland China. Today, the Group’s interests in the Mainland range from
properties and aircraft engineering to retailing. Swire subsidiaries are
partners to some of Mainland China’s most successful companies, including
