The World Bank Group is one of the world’s largest sources of funding and knowledge for developing countries. It consists of five institutions: the World Bank, including the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and the International Development Association (IDA); the International Finance Corporation (IFC); the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA); and the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). Working together in more than 100 countries, these institutions provide financing, advice, and other solutions that enable countries to address the most urgent challenges of development.

The World Bank Group has set two goals for the world to achieve by 2030:

- End extreme poverty by reducing the share of the global population that lives in extreme poverty to 3 percent by 2030.

- Promote shared prosperity by increasing the incomes of the poorest 40 percent of people in every country.

Established in 1944, the World Bank Group is headquartered in Washington, D.C. It has 189 member countries, staff from more 170 countries, and offices in over 130 locations.
