Founded in 1987 as a non-profit international organization, GSMA is the world's most influential mobile industry association. At present, GSMA's work covers business, government policy and technological innovation. Its members include more than 750 mobile operators from more than 220 countries and nearly 400 companies and industry organizations, including mobile phone manufacturers, software companies, equipment suppliers, Internet companies, and finance, healthcare, transportation, and public utility companies. China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom are the three major members of China's board of directors. China's technology companies Huawei, ZTE, Xiaomi and Lenovo are also members of the company. The GSMA Greater China headquarters is located in Hong Kong and has liaison offices in Beijing and Shanghai.


In order to promote the development of the mobile industry, promote inter-industry technical communication, and promote trade and cooperation, GSMA launches and hosts three world-class mobile industry events each year - MWC Barcelona, MWC Shanghai and MWC Los Angeles, as well as Mobile 360Series around the world, attracting the support and participation of executives from the world's largest and most influential mobile communications operators, software companies, equipment providers, Internet companies, media and entertainment institutes and government delegations from different countries. At the same time, GSMA is committed to carrying out projects and programs that represent the mobile industry and meet the overall interests of mobile operators, promoting global strategic cooperation and development in a number of key areas, including spectrum, IoT, identity and future mobile network technologies.
