Ma Jiantang

Secretary of the CPC Leading Group&Vice President, Development Research Center of the State Council Development Research Center of the State Council

Mr. Ma Jiantang holds a PhD in economics and is a research fellow. He currently serves as Party Secretary and Vice President (Vice Minister) of the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC). He graduated from the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and his main research interests lie in corporate behavior, industrial structure, industrial organization and macroeconomics. He is the author of "Cyclic Fluctuation and Structural Change", "Structure and Behavior - Research on China's Industrial Organization", "Research on China’s Industrial Structure", and "Research on the Reform of State-owned Enterprises at the Turn of the Century". In 1996, Mr. Ma won the China’s top economic prize - Sun Yefang Economic Science Award, and was awarded the title of "expert with outstanding contributions" by the State Council. In 2012, his theory, "Adjustment of China’s Economic Structure", won the China Economic Theory Innovation Award. Mr. Ma served as Director-general of the Macroeconomic Regulation Department of the DRC, Deputy Secretary General of the State Economic and Trade Commission, Deputy Secretary General of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council (SASAC), member of the Party Leading Group and Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Qinghai Province, Secretary of the Party Leading Group and Commissioner of the National Bureau of Statistics, and Deputy Party Secretary and Executive Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Governance.
