John Zhao

Chairman, Hony Capital; Executive Vice President, Legend Holdings Co., LTD Business Circle

Mr. John Zhao is the founder and Chairman of Hony Capital, a leading private equity firm in China. Mr. Zhao also serves as Executive Vice President of Hony’s sponsor firm, Legend Holdings, the parent company of Lenovo Group (HK.0992). He is on the boards of Lenovo, Zoomlion, Chengtou Holdings, Jin Jiang International Hotels and other portfolio companies of Hony. In addition, Mr. Zhao’s other duties include PE/VC expert entitled by the “Thousand Talents Plan”, Chairman of PE/VC Committee under the Asset Management Association of China (AMAC) and Governor of China-US Exchange Foundation (CUSEF).

Hony Capital currently manages over USD 7.5 billion of assets and has invested in more than 80 companies domestically and abroad.

Mr. Zhao holds an MBA degree from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, dual Master’s degrees in Electronic Engineering and Physics from Northern Illinois University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from Nanjing University.
