CDF Voice | Albert Bourla,CEO of Pfizer: Chinese People Have Shown Their Ability to Persevere through Incredible Adversity
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, we’ve received video messages from CDF delegates who expressed their support to China.
Today’s video is from Albert Bourla,CEO of Pfizer.
He said “China’s leading role in the global economy was born of decades of commitment to opening its economy, and to ever-increasing engagement with the world. No virus can stop that reality or that commitment.”
Pfizer is supporting the relief efforts in the country, including the work of the Chinese government and health partners to fight this serious disease.
The Pfizer Foundation has provided financial assistance to support the delivery of urgently needed aid and supplies to front-line healthcare workers. This includes grants to Direct Relief and Project HOPE, who are working with local partners on the ground in Wuhan and other affected areas of China. This funding has helped to address immediate needs for delivery of supplies and to support longer-term healthcare goals.
The following is the full speech.
Jiayou Wuhan!
We at Pfizer have been deeply moved by the scenes coming out of your great city. The suffering and anxiety you have experienced is unimaginable, yet the bravery and courage you have displayed has been inspiring.
Pfizer remains committed to being a good citizen in China. As such, we have taken precautions to protect and support all of our colleagues in the country, including those in Wuhan, who are especially close to our hearts and minds during this difficult time.
We also are supporting the relief efforts in the country, including the work of the Chinese government and health partners to fight this serious disease.

Throughout China’s 5000-year history, its people have shown their ability to persevere through incredible adversity.
We are seeing this again in 2020, and we know China will come through this crisis stronger.
China’s leading role in the global economy was born of decades of commitment to opening its economy, and to ever-increasing engagement with the world. No virus can stop that reality or that commitment.
Jiayou Wuhan! Jiayou Hubei! Jiayou China!
