Helge Lund

Chairman, BP plc Business Circle

Mr. Lund joined the board of directors of BP as a candidate for non-executive director and chairman on July 26, 2018, and was appointed chairman of BP group in January 2019.


From 2015 to 2016, he was chief executive of BG Group until the merger with shell. During the decade from 2004 to 2014, Mr. Lund served as President and chief executive officer of Statoil.


Before joining Statoil, he was President and chief executive officer of Aker Kvaerner. Aker Kvaerne is an industrial conglomerate whose main businesses include oil and gas, engineering, construction, pulp, paper and shipbuilding. Prior to that, he held executive positions at Norwegian industrial holding company Aker RGI and Hafslund Nycomed, an industrial conglomerate with pharmaceutical and energy businesses. Mr. Lund has been a consultant to McKinsey & company and a political consultant to the Norwegian conservative parliamentary group.


Mr. Lund is chairman of the board of Novo Nordisk AS, a global healthcare company. He was a non-executive director of oil services Schlumberger Group (2016-18) and Nokia (2011-14). He is an operations consultant at Clayton Dubilier&Rice, an American investment firm. He also sits on the board of the international crisis group and was a member of the UN secretary-general's advisory group on sustainable energy from 2011 to 2014.


He holds a degree in business economics from the Norwegian school of economics and business administration (NHH) in Bergen and an MBA from INSEAD business school in France.Mr. Lund, a Norwegian national, is married with two children.
