Ray Dalio is the Founder, Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Bridgewater Associates, a global macroeconomic investment management firm which he started in 1975.
Under his guidance, Bridgewater Associates introduced several industry-changing approaches to investing, such as risk parity, the separation of alpha and beta, and currency overlay which led aiCIO Magazine to call Ray the “Steve Jobs of Investing”. Bridgewater has received over twenty “Manager of the Year” awards. Ray personally has received three “Lifetime Achievement” awards. His influence on economic policy makers thinking prompted Time Magazine to name him “One of the 100 Most Influential People in the World”.
Mr. Dalio is also an active philanthropist. Since he plans to give away more than half of his wealth, he actively works as chairman of the Dalio Foundation. In China, he is the founding board member of Beijing Dalio Welfare Foundation and the China Global Philanthropy Institute.
Mr. Dalio graduated with a B.S. in Finance from C.W. Post College in 1971 and an MBA degree from Harvard Business School in 1973.
