Miles D. White is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Abbott, a global healthcare company with a leading portfolio of products and technologies in diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals and branded generic pharmaceuticals, operating in more than 150 countries.
Mr. White, who joined Abbott in 1984, became chairman of the board and chief executive officer in 1999. Under his leadership, the company has redefined itself through a series of strategic internal actions, acquisitions and divestitures over the past 15 years, all aimed at building a company that would be better positioned to deliver innovation, align with long-term healthcare and patient trends, and generate future growth.
Founded in Chicago, Illinois, in 1888, Abbott is a Fortune 200 global enterprise, and has been consistently ranked on Fortune’s annual list of the “World’s Most Admired Companies”, the Dow Jones Sustainability North America and World Indexes, and Corporate Responsibility Magazine’s Global 100 Best Corporate Citizens.
