Jan Rinnert serves as Chairman of the Board of Management of Heraeus Holding GmbH. The Hanau-based, family-owned technology group – which started out as a pharmacy in 1660 and was founded as a company in 1851 – has a portfolio of businesses under the umbrella of Holding. These businesses are focused on themes such as the environment, energy, health, mobility, and industrial applications. The FORTUNE Global 500 company, which employs around 12,300 employees worldwide in 40 countries, holds a leading position in its global markets.
After completing his studies in business administration and law, Jan Rinnert initially worked for the city of Bremen, where he acted as spokesperson for the city’s Senator for the Economy and European Affairs. He subsequently worked as a management consultant at the leading global business consulting firm, A.T.Kearney, where he gained a number of years of professional experience. He then moved into industry, serving as Managing Director of a foundry in the aviation supply industry.
In 2004, following various positions in the metal industry, Jan Rinnert joined Heraeus, where he held different managing positions. In 2008, Jan Rinnert joined the Heraeus Holding Board of Management GmbH and was named CFO of the Group. Since 2013, Jan Rinnert has acted as Chairman of the Board of Management of Heraeus Holding.
In 2014, Jan Rinnert began a major transformation program at the Heraeus Group. The program focuses on the future development of Heraeus as a portfolio company. This has involved making the business units more market-oriented and eliminating several levels of hierarchy. With Jan Rinnert at the helm, a variety of programs and initiatives have been launched at Heraeus to make the various business units more competitive and to increase the company’s profitability.
