Mr. Swire is the chairman of Swire Group limited, Swire Properties limited, Swire Beverages limited and Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering limited.

Mr. Swire was born in the UK in 1973 and is a member of Swire's founding family. He joined Swire in Hong Kong in 1997 and has served in Hong Kong, Sydney, Shanghai, Xiamen and London. Mr. Swire has been involved in a wide range of group businesses including Cathay Pacific Airways and Swire Pacific; He has also worked in mainland China as general manager of Coca-Cola in Shanghai and chief executive officer of Xiamen taikoo aircraft engineering co., LTD., a subsidiary of Hong Kong aircraft engineering co., LTD.

Mr. Merlin returned to London in 2008 to serve as financial director of Swire group and became chief executive in January 2015.

He is a member of the advisory board of the UK-China trade association, a committee member of the Hong Kong chamber of commerce and industry, a member of the global chief executive committee of the Chinese people's association for friendship with foreign countries, and a member of the Shanghai mayor's international business advisory conference.
