Nobuyuki Koga

Chairman of the Board, Nomura Holdings, Inc. Business Circle

Nobuyuki Koga is Chairman of the Board of Nomura Holdings. He is also chairman of Nomura’s nomination and compensation committees.

Mr. Koga served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Nomura Holdings and Nomura Securities from April 2003 to March 2008.

During this time he emphasized expansion into new business areas, implementing a broad range of management strategies to enhance Nomura’s position as a financial services group and making a number of strategic investments and acquisitions.

Born in Fukuoka, Japan, in 1950, Mr. Koga joined Nomura Securities in 1974 after graduating from the Faculty of Law at University of Tokyo. Following appointments as General Manager of the Corporate Planning Department, Corporate Finance & Services Department, and Personnel Department, he was appointed Director in 1995 and then Executive Vice President in 2000. When Nomura moved to a holding company structure in October 2001, he became Director, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Nomura Holdings in addition to his role at Nomura Securities.
