China Huadian Corporation LTD. (CHD) is one of the five power generation corporations wholly owned by the state and established after China’s power sector reform at the end of 2002 and is a super-large-scale central government-owned enterprise supervised by SASAC of the State Council. In 2017, it was renamed as China Huadian Corporation LTD. after corporate system reform. CHD’s main business includes power generation, heat production and supply and development of primary energy resources related with electricity such as coal and relevant technical service. CHD has assets mainly distributed in 32 domestic provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and overseas countries such as Russia, Indonesia, Cambodia and Spain. CHD controls 7 companies listed at home or abroad, and has been on the Global Fortune 500 list for 7 consecutive years.


CHD develops power generation, coal, finance, and technology and engineering as its 4 pillar industries. At the end of 2018, CHD’s total installed capacity reached 148GW, with capacity of clean energies accounting for 39.7%. CHD has controlling shares of 31 coal mines and its annual coal production capacity in 2018 was 50.78 million tons. As for its financial business segment, CHD has 6 financial institutes including China Huadian Capital Holdings Company Limited and China Huadian Finance Corporation Limited and manages financial assets totaling 464.3 billion. In its technology and engineering sector, CHD runs 3 directly-owned subsidiaries: China Huadian Engineering Co., Ltd. and Guodian Nanjing Automation Co., Ltd. which are listed, and Huadian Electric Power Scientific Research Institute Co., Ltd. It also owns several technological innovation platforms including a National Enterprise Technology Center and National Distributed Energies Technology R&D Center.
