China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. is a key state-owned enterprise established
with the approval of the State Council.
With a registered capital of RMB34.9 billion yuan, the Company's main
business covers: power development, investment, construction, operation and
management; power (heat) production and sales; development, investment,
construction, production, sales of industries and products related to finance,
coal, transportation, new energy, environmental protection; industrial
investment, operation and management.
Over the years, the Company has resolutely implemented the decision-making
and deployment of the CPC Central Committee, earnestly fulfilled the economic,
political, and social responsibilities of central SOEs, and adhered to the
“three-color company” corporate mission. The Company has gradually formed the
strategic objective and positioning of “building a world-class enterprise with
global competitiveness that takes power as the core business, coal as the
foundational business, finance as the supporting business, and technology as the
driving force while striving for industrial synergy”, and has made positive
contributions to safeguarding national energy security and promoting national
economic development.
At present, the Company has 51 secondary units, more than 460 third-tier
enterprises, and six listed companies (Huaneng Power International Inc., Inner
Mongolia Mengdian Huaneng, Xinneng Taishan, Huaneng Hydropower, Huaneng
Renewables, Great Wall Securities), with 136,000 employees. By the end of 2018,
the Company had wholly-owned and majority-owned power plants with installed
capacity of 176.57GW and coal production capacity of 77.6 million tons per year.
The total assets and financial assets under management were both over RMB 1
trillion yuan and the main production and operation indicators maintained a
leadership position in the industry. The Company was the first domestic power
generation company to join the ranks of the Fortune 500 Companies, and has been
ranked as A-level for 17 times in the corporate performance assessment and in
the term assessment for central SOE leaders conducted by the SASAC, which is the
best among comparable enterprises in China.
The Company's industrial development plan during the “Thirteenth Five-Year
Plan” period is: to basically build up a modern energy industrial system
featuring power as the core business with industrial synergy among sectors of
coal, transportation, finance, science and technology, logistics and
energy-related services, and featuring coordinated development between domestic
and overseas businesses; to ensure various indicators enter the forefront level
among the world's comparable energy companies and to join the ranks of
world-class enterprises with global competitiveness.
