Jan Rinnert

Chairman & CEO, Heraeus Business Circle

Jan Rinnert has been Chairman of the Board of Management of Heraeus Holding GmbH since 2013. The Hanau-based technology group received recognition in 2016 as a Top 10 Family Business from the Foundation for Family Businesses in Germany.


After completing his studies in business administration and law, Jan Rinnert initially worked for the city of Bremen which included as the spokesman for the city’s Senator for the Economy. He subsequently worked as a management consultant at the leading global business consulting firm, A.T. Kearney, where he gained a number of years of professional experience.


In 2004, following various positions in the metal industry, Jan Rinnert joined the Heraeus Group and was the managing director of Heraeus Kulzer GmbH until 2007. Since August 2007, he has been a member of the Board of Management of Heraeus Holding GmbH and the Group’s chief financial officer. He became Vice Chairman of the Board of Management of Heraeus Holding GmbH in August 2010, where he remained until being appointed Chairman in 2013. In 2014, Jan Rinnert began a major transformation program at the Heraeus Group. The program focuses on the future development of Heraeus as a portfolio company. This has involved making the business units more market-oriented and eliminating several levels of hierarchy. With Jan Rinnert at the helm, a variety of programs and initiatives have been launched at Heraeus to make the various business units more competitive and to increase the company’s profitability.


Jan Rinnert is also a member of numerous boards, which include:


Member of the advisory board for central Germany at Deutsche Bank AG, Frankfurt am Main, since 2009; Member of the advisory board of the family-owned pharmaceutical company, C.H. Boehringer Sohn AG & Co. KG, since 2011; Member of the supervisory board at Teufelberger Holding AG, a family-owned manufacturer of steel-wire and fiber ropes based in Wels, Austria, since 2011; Member of the board and main committee of the Association of Chemical and Related Industry Employers in the State of Hesse (HessenChemie), since 2016.
