John Frisbie

President, the US-China Business Council (USCBC) Other Organizations

John Frisbie, President of the US-China Business Council since November 2004, has over thirty years of business and policy experience with China, including nearly ten years living and working in Beijing.


Frisbie started his career with the US-China Business Council, first working in USCBC’s Washington, DC office from 1986 to 1988, then as Director of China Operations located in Beijing from 1988 to 1993. He then joined the General Electric Company as Director for Business Development in China for the company’s diverse set of businesses, and followed that with Asia-wide positions for two GE business units, based in Singapore.


Frisbie relocated to the United States in 2000, joining the trade consulting practice established by former Secretary of Commerce Mickey Kantor at Mayer, Brown, Rowe and Maw.


His China background includes joint venture negotiations, operating best practices, trade and investment consulting, policy advocacy, US and Chinese government relations, and media relations. He has spoken at numerous USCBC and outside events and authored several articles and reports in USCBC and other publications.


Frisbie received Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Business Administration degrees from the University of Texas at Austin. He received several National Resource Fellowships for language study and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. He, his wife, young son and daughter live in Bethesda, Maryland.
