The 2018 China Development Forum (CDF) will hold a symposium in Beijing from Sept. 16 to Sept. 17, focusing on the opening-up progress of China for the past six years.

Topics covered in the symposium include reforms and opening up under the new era, challenges and the future of the global trade system, the artificial intelligence revolution, China-U.S. trade tensions, medicine and services, tax reduction policies and high-quality growth for manufacturing.

As an international conference aimed at "engaging with the world for common prosperity", the CDF plays the role of a major platform for world business leaders to conduct exchanges with Chinese leaders over opportunities and challenges facing both China and the rest of the world.

Representatives from well-known think tanks, Fortune 500 companies and governments at home and abroad will attend the two-day symposium. Lin Yifu, chairman of the Institute for South-South Cooperation and Development at Peking University; Zhu Min,former IMF deputy managing director; Robert Zoellick, former president of the World Bank Group; Robert Rubin, former Treasury Secretary, USA and other guests will present at the Symposium.

The forum serves as an important window for other countries to learn about the economic development and policies of China, the world's second-largest economy.

The CDF is the first annual high-level international conference held in China right after the National People's Congress (NPC) and the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) each year. Initiated in 2000, the CDF has made remarkable contributions to the policy exchange and international collaborations between China and the world.

The annual session of the CDF 2018 was co-hosted by the Development Research Center of the State Council of China and China Development Research Foundation in Beijing from March 24 to March 26. (by Zhang Chao)
