Michelin Group, one of the world largest tire makers and the recognized world tire technology leader. It is one of global Fortune 500 enterprises. The Group’s sales in 2015 was €21.2 billion. In addition to tires, the Group also produces wheels, steel cords, maps and guides.


Michelin Group now has 110,000 employees and around 70 manufacturing sites throughout the world, several research, development and tests centers in France, Japan, Spain, United States, Thailand and China, as well as sales & marketing operations in over 170 countries and regions.


Michelin entered into China in 1989 with a first Representative office in Beijing.


End 1995, Michelin set up its manuafacturing company in Shenyang, where a new and modern plant with a total investment of around US$ 1.5 billion has been constructed and has started the production.


In April 2001, Michelin Group established a R&D company in Shanghai and a second manufacturing company in Shanghai.


In 2008, Tyre Plus (Shanghai) Auto Accessories Trading Company, Michelin’s wholly-owned subsidiary, was established to introduce the auto repair franchise business model into China.


In order to meet the growing demand of the Chinese market and consumers for new products, new services and new business models, Michelin has set up several subsidiaries in China in recent years, including the establishment of Michelin (Shanghai) Aircraft Tires Trading Co., Ltd. in 2016 and the establishment in the same year of Shanghai SuiSheng Information Technology Co., Ltd., focused on expanding innovative business.


Michelin has published "Michelin Guide" to select outstanding restaurants and hotels in nearly 30 countries and regions around the world. In 2008, the first edition of "Michelin Guide Hong Kong and Macau" was released, marking the official entrance into China of Michelin restaurant rating business. In September 2016, “Michelin Guide” landed in Shanghai and is scheduled to be deployed in Guangzhou and Taipei in 2018.


Michelin now has sales branches in Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenyang, Xi’an and Hong Kong with the largest tire distribution and sales networks in China market. In Taiwan province, Michelin has also sales organization and teams.


The investments already made by Michelin when creating its China companies totaled over US$ 500 million and with the investment for the new factory in Shenyang company, the investment of Michelin in China exceeds US$ 2 billion. Currently Michelin China has around 7000 employees.
