The China Development Forum 2001 was successfully held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on March 25-26, 2011. It was sponsored by the Development Research Center of the State Council and organized by the China Development Research Foundation. The theme was “The Role of Government in a Rapidly Globalizing Economy.”
Attendees were distinguished entrepreneurs and economists home and abroad, as well as senior representatives of international organizations and Chinese high-level government officials. Several important issues has been discussed, all of which are directly or indirectly related to the preparation of China’s entry into the WTO and the change of government’s role.
China is now actively dedicating itself to the promotion of scientific and democratic decision-making in the process of modernization. Chinese Vice-Premier Wen Jiabao attended and made speeches at the forum meetings both this year and last year. Premier Zhu Rongji met with the attendees and exchanged views with them. All these show that the Chinese government attaches importance to views and suggestions made by Chinese and foreign participants.
