Sponsored by the Development Research Center of the State Council, China Development Forum 2006 was successfully held at DiaoYutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on March 18-20, 2006.The theme of the seventh annual forum was “China: Promoting Economic Development and Social Harmony”, which received widely well-thought-of by the participants. During the forum, participants carried out in-depth discussion and research upon five issues: the Eleventh “Five-year” Program, Reform and Development in Education, Labor Market Development and Social Security, Public Finance and Social Harmony, Rural Development and Urbanization.

After the forum, Premier Wen Jiabao cordially met with the delegates. He listened to their comments and suggestions on china’s development.

Founded in 2000, the China Development Forum is designed as a new mechanism and channel for dialogue and communication among entrepreneurs, scholars and senior government officials from home and abroad. Through in depth discussion about hot topics in social development, the new development tendency of Chinese opening up and reform can be introduced and international opinions and suggestions to our economic development strategy can be acquired and studied.
