Abstract

Advancing supply-side structural reform is a strategic action advanced by President Xi Jinping for China to adapt to and lead the new economic normal. Priorities in this course are to eliminate overcapacity, reduce inventory, deleverage, cut costs and bolster areas of weakness, with the purpose to improve supply quality and meet demands better. The reform made encouraging progress in 2016 and will be furthered as a main thread of economic work for a period to come.
