Vice-Chair of the Management Board, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Other Organizations
Dr. Christoph Beier was appointed to the Management Board of former Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) in 2010 and has been Vice-Chair of the GIZ Management Board since 2011.
From 2000 he held various leading management positions within GTZ and initially headed the Planning and Development Department and then different Regional Departments. Before, Christoph Beier advised the Ministry of the Interior in Indonesia on decentralization on behalf of GTZ and worked as research and teaching assistant to the chair for economics and social geography at Ruhr-University Bochum as well as for a business promotion agency and for the Ministry of Economics in Saarland.
He holds a number of honorary posts, for example as a member of the Board of Trustees of the German Institute for Development Evaluation (DEval) as well as the Board of the Bertelsmann Transformation Management Index by the Bertelsmann Foundation.
Dr. Christoph Beier studied geography, politics, ethnology and agriculture at the Technical University of Munich. His doctoral thesis on Decentralisation in Indonesia earned him the Ruth Massenberg prize for the University’s best dissertation at Ruhr-University Bochum in 1995.
