Tokio Marine Holdings, Inc. (Tokio Marine Holdings), as a large multi-national financial and insurance group in Japan, was founded jointly by The Tokio Marine & Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. and The Nichido Fire and Marine Insurance Co., Ltd. in April, 2002. It is the first public-listed insurance holding company in Japan to run the non-life and life insurance businesses simultaneously, and ranked 261th in Fortune Global 500 in 2016.

Tokio Marine Holdings mainly focuses on the management of the property and casualty insurance companies, life insurance companies and overseas subsidiaries under the Group as well as other related businesses. At present, Tokio Marine has offices globally in 483 cities in 38 countries and regions including Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd.

The Tokio Marine & Fire Insurance Co., Ltd., (currently, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd) which is the core subsidiary of Tokio Marine Holdings, was established in 1879. It is the property and casualty insurance company having the longest history in Japan and also is the first foreign insurance company permitted to open a representative office (1980) and the first Japanese insurance company to set up a business organization in China (1994). At present, it has a Representative Office in Beijing, and a Chinese subsidiary company in Shanghai which has branch offices in Shanghai, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Beijing and Zhejiang.

Besides the insurance business, Tokio Marine Holdings and its subsidiaries also conduct various CSR programs promoting environmental protection and harmonious development of the society. In China, it sponsors the research on insurance development and training for insurance expertise, and cooperates with the All-China Youth Federation to support the young generation's activities such as "Chinese Youth Development Project.”
