2003:China: Building a Well-off Society on All Fronts
The "China Development Forum 2003" was successfully held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing on March 22-24, 2003. It was sponsored by the Development Research Center of the State Council and organized by the China Development Research Foundation. The theme was "China: Building a Well-off Society on All Fronts."
Attending the forum were distinguished foreign entrepreneurs and economists, representatives of international organizations and Chinese senior government officials, entrepreneurs and scholars.
Premier Wen Jiabao met with the attendees and exchanged views with them. Vice Premier Wu Yi attended and made speeches at the opening ceremony.
The forum thoroughly discussed nine topics, which are "Building Institutions for Markets", "Industrialization, Innovation and Change", "Embracing Globalization: the Post-WYO Scenario", "Policy for the Development of China's Information Industry", "Coordinating Monetary and Exchange Rate Policies", "New Measures in Development China's West Region", "New Framework in Managing the State Owned Assets", "Urbanization in the Development Process" and "Inter-government Fiscal Relations and Regionally Balanced Growth".
The forum is a large-scale international seminar shortly after the new government was founded. These Foreign friends were the first group of guests that Premier Wen Jiabao had met with after he took office as Premier. All circles of life at home and abroad paid great attention to the Forum unprecedentedly.
